Streaming relay targets audio and video traffic, carrying publish and play streams over a Layer 4 relay — accelerating delivery while hiding the origin. It suits live streaming, VOD origin pull, real-time audio/video and other scenarios sensitive to continuity and latency.
When to use streaming relay
Audio and video are long-lived, continuous streams, sensitive to jitter and interruption. Relaying through veilx lets viewers connect to a nearby edge while veilx maintains a stable link to the origin, reducing stalls and avoiding direct exposure of the origin IP.
Configure the relay
Create a streaming relay rule in the console, filling in the inbound port, protocol, and origin address and port. The source address is validated on creation, so enter a valid public IP. After saving, publish or play through the assigned endpoint.
Stability and latency
- The protocol and port must match what the publisher and origin actually use.
- Watch link latency and packet loss, and pick a closer ingress region if needed.
- For large-scale delivery, combine caching and multiple nodes to ease origin load.
